Welcome to Nurturing Necessities!

Nurturing Necessities of Ringwood IL was founded in 2011 by Board President Kerrilyn Bachler-Connor.

The mission of Nurturing Necessities is to provide gently used clothing, blankets, toys, and other baby related items to low income families in Lake and McHenry Counties, in order to help relieve the financial burden on these families, while keeping these reusable items out of landfills.

With the way the economy has been over the past few years, Kerrilyn saw a need, and decided to do what she could to fill it. 

While there are many give away/recycle email groups out there, Kerrilyn realized that the people who need these free items the most, don’t have access to email on a regular basis, and therefore miss out on the opportunity to request them. Since many of these same people also don’t own vehicles, they generally can’t pick up items any way.

While these email groups and websites are a great idea, they just aren’t feasible for the many people that could use these items the most. Nurturing Necessities was born to help collect unwanted items from people who no longer needed them and get them into the hands of those who do.  Due to space restrictions, it was decided that Nurturing Necessities would focus on infant needs and the needs of their families.

Kerrilyn got together with some friends, who now form the board of Nurturing Necessities, and brought the organization to life.
